Join City Councilman Jumaane Williams for a teach-in inside Trump Tower to protest Governor Cuomo’s $2.4 billion yearly giveaway to real estate developers like Donald Trump. The action, organized by Alliance for Tenant Power and Real Rent Reform, will warn that a real estate development tax exemption, known as 421-a, will exacerbate homelessness and gentrification in a city bracing itself for President Trump’s painful federal budget cuts to housing programs. Between 1981 and 1985 Donald Trump waged multiple lawsuits against the City to gain access to the lucrative 421-a program to construct Trump Tower. The loophole enabled Mr. Trump to avoid $37.5 million in taxes for Trump Tower.
